Some inspirational movies of 2018 -2019

Most of us love a good movie. Something to entertain us and relax to. But, of course, movies can do more. They can challenge and educate us, requiring us to use our imagination and become aware of things that are going on outside of our day to day existence. They can inspire. Here are a few movies that have done more than entertain over the last few months.

Black Panther, the smash-hit Marvel movie, breathes new life and African power into the superhero genre.

Spike Lee's satirical comedy BlacKkKlansman, based on the real-life story of a black policeman who infiltrates the Ku Klux Klan, punches you right between the eyes.

The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind is an inspirational and heartwarming film based on the real-life story of a thirteen-year-old boy who saved his village from starvation by figuring out how to generate electricity from the wind.

The Hate U Give is a movie, based on the super-successful novel of the same name by Angie Thomas, that captures the essence of #Black Lives Matter.

Nappily ever after takes a wry and thought-provoking look at some black women's obsession with their hair and the importance they invest in their hair as well as their appearance.

If you haven't seen these movies or read their accompanying books, check them out. They are worth it.
